Meet the California Angels!
The California Angels Rodeo Drill Team is currently composed of 8 girls, all of which board or lease horses at Webb Ranch in Portola Valley, CA.
Samantha Tucker (coach)
Samantha is the coach of the California Angels, bringing years of drill team experience and knowledge to the team. She previously competed with the Cow Palace Cowgirls, a well-known drill team that represented the Cow Palace and performed at various events, including the famous Grand National Rodeo. With the end of the Cow Palace Cowgirls, Samantha helped coach the Coastside Cowgirls, a junior drill team dedicated to breast cancer awareness that performed at the Woodside Junior Rodeo, Driscoll Ranch Rodeo, and other events. Besides currently coaching the California Angels, Samantha barrel races on her mare, Wilma, and teaches riding lessons at Webb Ranch.
Kaitlyn Krautkramer
Kaitlyn is a 17-year-old who joined the California Angels at its start. She currently leases Karma, an Appaloosa mare, who she has leased for several years. Kaitlyn first took on Karma as a project, helping the mare overcome a vast array of behavioral problems. Kaitlyn now enjoys showing her in western classes at local shows. Kaitlyn will be ending her lease on Karma and moving to Bodie, a grey gelding, whom she hopes to use on the team. Besides riding, Kaitlyn works as a manager at Webb Ranch.
Katie Nachtsheim
Katie is 15 years old and helped start the California Angels Drill Team at Webb Ranch. In 2010, she was a part of the Coastside Cowgirls Drill Team on her bay Quarter Horse, Tex. She now owns a Paint gelding named Cash, who is a consistent winner at barrel races around California. Katie bought Cash in late 2011, and they have since won over $1000 in their barrel racing career. Besides barrel racing, Katie is a talented roper, and participates in other activities such as choir and basketball.
Makaela Cooper
Makaela is 17 years old, and is the newest member to the drill team. She rides Scout, a chestnut Paint gelding that was previously used in the Coastside Cowgirls Junior Rodeo Drill Team. Besides Scout, Makaela leases Maggie, a spirited six-year-old eventer, and both are a part of the Webb Ranch Eventing Team. Makaela and Maggie compete in various 3-day-events around California, and are commonly practicing dressage and jumping at Webb Ranch.
Morgan Corona
Morgan is 15 years old and leases Luna, a black Quarter Horse mare. Morgan and Luna joined the California Angels at the start, and have since been valuable members to the team. Morgan has leased Luna for several years, and they enjoy both western and trail riding. Morgan is an avid lacrosse player as well, traveling throughout the Bay Area and winning tournaments with her team.
Nicole Fava
Nicole is 18 years old and owns Ringo, a seven-year-old solid Paint gelding. When the Coastside Cowgirls Drill Team ended in 2010, she was determined to continue the drill team legacy at Webb Ranch. Nicole was one of the first riders on the California Angels, where she rode a palomino mare named Miley. Nicole bought Ringo early this year, and they have since been improving their barrel racing times. Besides drill team and barrel racing, Nicole shows locally in western and English shows. She currently works as a manager at Webb Ranch.
Paige Gillooley
Paige is 18 years old and joined the California Angels in its first year. After leasing a Paint mare named Ellie, Paige purchased Denver, a chestnut Quarter Horse. Paige has helped Denver come a long way, and the two now look forward to barrel racing and roping. Besides riding Denver, Paige is on her high school's dance team, and dedicates countless hours to her managing position at Webb Ranch.
Sterling Trubman
Sterling is 15 years old and was a member of the Coastside Cowgirls Junior Rodeo Drill Team on her old lease horse, Artie. When Sterling got Preacher, a five-year-old Paint gelding, she joined the California Angels Drill Team. Sterling bought Preacher when he was 3, and they have since come very far together. When she is not riding in drill team, Sterling enjoys showing Preacher in western pleasure and reining, with the occasional barrel race added in. Sterling is aiming to compete at the 2013 APHA World Show.
Tori Traube
Tori is 17 years old and rides Dakota, a bay solid Paint gelding. When she is not riding Dakota in drill team, Tori enjoys eventing her chestnut thoroughbred gelding, Dizney. Tori has improved Dizney's dressage and jumping since the start of her lease, and the pair have done well in events throughout California. In addition to eventing , Tori has shown western horses at local shows. She has been a manager at Webb Ranch for years and projects many of the lesson horses.
